Remember, an alumni conversation is different from an alumni interview. While our volunteers will likely have some questions for you, they are not here to assess your admissibility to Northwestern. Rather, alumni conversations are an opportunity for you to learn more about how Northwestern prepares alumni for success throughout their four years on campus and beyond. Your conversation should be a true back-and-forth, with alumni sharing insights into their own experiences and perspectives on Northwestern and students sharing their thoughts about how they imagine taking advantage of the opportunities Northwestern affords. When selecting your preference for a Geographic Area or Affinity/Special Interest Group (ASIG), below, remember that the choice is entirely up to you! If you want to connect with an alum from your area, you may select your location from the geographic dropdown, without selecting any ASIGs. Alternatively, if you'd prefer to meet with a member of an ASIG from anywhere in the world, you may select that as well. Or, you're free to mix and match! For example, if you'd like to meet with a Chicago-based alum who identified as a first-generation student AND belongs to the pre-business special interest group, you can select that combination--it's entirely up to you! You may select up to three ASIG affiliations and one geographic area. While our alumni volunteers will do their best to assign you to alumni who fit multiple categories, keep in mind that in some instances, you may be assigned to more than one alumni depending on your choices. Finally, keep in mind that alumni conversations are subject to alumni availability. We cannot guarantee that every conversation request will be fulfilled, but not being able to meet with a volunteer will have no bearing on your application process.
